A man trying to get into the US embassy in Berlin was detained after claiming he had a bomb inside his suitcase, police have said.
The suspect, now in custody, is alleged to have become violent and tried to punch security guards after he was turned away at the door at around 7.30am on Friday.
Police spokesman Jens Berger said he told officers there was a bomb in his suitcase - placed at the entrance of the building - as he was arrested.

The area was cleared and a police robot inspected the piece of luggage and found only "personal items" including clothing inside.
Mr Berger said few details of the 23-year-old German were available, but added: "There are many indications he is psychologically disturbed."
