A shopworker has been captured on CCTV bravely fighting back against a man who tried to rob her premises.
The suspect was pictured walking up to the cashier before buying a soft drink and handing over some coins.
But when the woman opened the till he suddenly pulled out a pistol and pointed it at her.
He reportedly demanded cash but when he leaned over the counter to grab some money, the cashier tried to knock the gun out of his hand.
When that didn't work, she pushed his face and hit him with the till tray.
The perpetrator fled and was chased by the woman brandishing a hammer.
The incident happened at the Keysville Convenience Store in Burke County, Georgia.
The suspect has been identified by the sheriff's office as 17-year-old Christian Dakota Thornton.
He has been charged with attempted armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during commission of the crime.
